Prepare for Off-the-Clock Combat as Lunchbreak Tactics Drops Major Demo Update for Steam Next Fest

Rise through the ranks of the ultimate work supply-cupboard card battler and get ready for new features and units as Borealys Games targets a Q2 2026 launch

MONTREAL — 23 February 2026 — Borealys Games is excited to announce that their quirky asynchronous card battler, Lunchbreak Tactics, is part of Steam Next Fest with a delicious new demo update. Developed by the team behind Mages of Mystralia, this strategy card game turns the local superstore into a battlefield where everyday objects become legendary warriors. Players can download the updated demo on Steam today and watch the official gameplay trailer to see the retail-fueled chaos in action.

In Lunchbreak Tactics, players are new trainees determined to escape workplace boredom by mastering the latest card game craze amongst staff. To become “Ultimate Slacker of the Month,” players must choose a Hero to lead their army, then pick two clans to build their squad of cards from based on inanimate store objects. From wizardly staplers to pirate-themed produce, every aisle is available to add to your arsenal.

This Next Fest update adds two new heroes, who both bring new skills to explore and card combos to discover, a special “next fest season” for players to become the ‘ultimate slacker of Next Fest’ and six new card skins, courtesy of the Game from Quebec sale. Staying true to Lunchbreak Tactics’ core gameplay and cute world, every match offers a fresh tactical puzzle to solve before lunch is over.

Designed for gamers as busy as your local convenience store worker, players can jump into multiplayer to battle other employees anytime. With asynchronous multiplayer, everyone can play at their own pace, whether they have a five-minute vape break or an entire lunch hour to spare.

Lunchbreak Tactics is scheduled to punch in for a full release on PC in 2026, but eager employees can head over to the Steam page, where they can wishlist the game and join the updated demo today as it launches as part of Next Fest.
