Account Executive

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for video games, technology and communications to help drive the success of our accounts.

The candidate needs to be a real self-starter, have good communication skills, and be interested in developing creative story angles and shaping communication strategies. You will work across several clients (retained and project-based) to help them drive sales and build their profile within the games industry.

Some clients act as service providers to the global video game industry, operating in areas such as network infrastructure and advertising technology, while others provide development tools and data analysis. We also work with video game publishers who want to build their profiles or launch new initiatives.

Put simply, the work at Big Games Machine is varied and intellectually challenging, with a common thread linking everything back to our passion for video games. You can call it a cliche, but we believe no day is ever the same here!

You will report to a senior account team member, work alongside the agency directors on the day-to-day account work and help the wider agency team where necessary.

This AE role will deal with a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Day-to-day account administration, such as building and updating media lists, writing agendas and reports
  • Copywriting for press releases, speaker proposals, pitches and news announcements
  • Monitoring the news to keep clients updated with information and stories relevant to their sector;
  • Working closely with the BGM team to develop campaigns and stories
  • Building and maintaining relationships with journalists and key stakeholders on behalf of our clients
  • Supporting the wider team across the agency on relevant tasks

The position is based at home as we are now a 100% virtual agency. There are quarterly in-person all-agency social meetings, which sometimes take place over two or three days, so you’ll need to be able to travel to those and potentially other meetings in the UK or at client premises if required.

You will need to have:

  • An authentic and genuine passion for video games and the games industry
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated, organised and exceptional time management skills as the role is home-based
  • A willingness to get involved in broader company initiatives such as our blog, networking and marketing
  • An appetite for knowledge and self-development
  • Proficient with standard software tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe, etc.
  • A creative and fun streak with a need to deliver great work to your colleagues and clients

It would be great if you have:

  • Previous relevant work experience
  • A portfolio or published work demonstrating experience in copywriting, advertising, social media or creative (video and/or design)
  • SEO knowledge and experience

  • Twenty days holiday –  plus from Christmas Eve lunchtime to the first working day back after 1 January, when the office is closed – meaning the total holiday allowance is approximately 24 days (exclusive of Bank Holidays)

About Big Games Machine

We think we’re a little bit special. Why?

Simply put, we do more than the average games marketing agency when it comes to who we work with because we work on B2B campaigns as much as we do consumer ones.

The video game industry is home to some fantastic consumer marketing agencies, but most don’t dabble in the B2B side of games PR and marketing. Similarly, the tech industry is full of talented B2B specialists who don’t live and breathe video games.

This means that, for the many companies that offer services, technology platforms and tools to developers and publishers, there isn’t an obvious solution for marketing agencies that combine B2B tech and video game know-how. Or at least, there wasn’t until Big Games Machine was born.

Founded by games industry veterans with decades of experience in PR and marketing, we support our clients with everything from media relations and outreach for new video games and product launches to global events management and content creation.

2023 saw us as finalists for Best Agency in both the and MCV awards. We’re also finalists for ‘Best PR Agency’ in the 20204 MCV Develop Awards.

How to apply

No agency application, please.

Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.

Please contact with your CV and a cover letter explaining why you believe you suit this role.
