Sword of Convallaria turns the tables on the TRPG genre with a bold 120+ hour narrative adventure, out now on PC and mobile platforms

With music composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and voices provided by an ensemble cast of anime stars, an epic adventure in the fantasy world of Iria awaits

August 1st, 2024 – Sword of Convallaria, the fantasy Tactical RPG from developers XD, is now out on PC and mobile platforms. Free-to-play and boasting a branching narrative over 120 hours, players will find themselves on a quest to save the nation of Iria from destruction by collecting and training a roster of mercenaries to the music of Hitoshi Sakimoto, the composer of Final Fantasy Tactics and Valkyria Chronicles.

A love letter to classic TRPGs with a modern graphical overhaul, Sword of Convallaria delivers political intrigue and isometric combat encounters to players who answer the call of the embattled nation of Iria. Players had their first taste of action in Sword with a Steam Next Fest demo that saw it become one of the most-played games on Steam during the event and a successful Closed Beta Test in June with over 10,000 applications. One dedicated player spent an impressive 170 hours in-game during June’s test.

Sword of Convallaria offers players two defined gameplay experiences. Spiral of Destinies is an expansive, open-ended single-player storyline with a player-driven narrative and 10 different endings to discover. This gives rise to the concept of ‘Your Move, Your Story’ as players discover more about the world of Iria and choose to ally themselves with—or fight against—the game’s key factions: the Union of Knight States, the Kingdom of Iria Armed Forces, the Papal States, and more.

Accompanying this extensive single-player offering is an online mode that focuses on assembling your own guild and participating in weekly quests, assembling and training a ragtag group of mercenaries, transforming them into a fighting force capable of saving the world.

Harness your tactical prowess and engage in grid-based encounters across a variety of bespoke terrains throughout Iria. Each battlefield presents strategic opportunities to take advantage of, such as cliffs, fire pits, and bodies of water, all presenting environmental hazards that players can use to their advantage as they battle a range of enemy types during their quest. Lure enemies into the path of rolling boulders or even knock strong adversaries off the map entirely!

Sword of Convallaria enhances its gameplay with a soundtrack expertly composed by legendary composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, whose iconic works include Final Fantasy Tactics and Valkyria Chronicles. The soundtrack accompanies a voice cast featuring Kazuhiko Inoue (Naruto, Final Fantasy XV, Fire Emblem Heroes), Aoi Yūki  (Pokémon, Xenoblade Chronicles, Genshin Impact), and Takuya Eguchi (Spy x Family, Granblue Fantasy, BLUELOCK).

“Orge Battle made a very deep impression on me, which truly made me fall in with SRPGs.” Guo Lei, Game Director of Sword of Convallaria at XD, said about the launch. “It’s been so exciting combining the talents of our development team, voice actors, and Mr. Sakimoto into an epic adventure, and we hope players enjoy the results.”
