Scéal is a beautiful story-driven title about the soul of a young girl who must uncover the secrets her past on her quest to enter the afterlife.

Independent game developer Joint Custody approached us to help them with the PR & marketing campaign for its upcoming game Scéal on Steam and iOS.

As well as media outreach Joint Custody also needed help building a social media strategy to help build a community and social awareness of the game.

What we did

Launch PR, social media campaign

What we did 

  • Reached out to the mobile and Steam media about the forthcoming release of the game, driving interest from a number of top-tier sites including Pocket Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun.
  • As part of our social media campaign, we organised and scripted the production of 5 Making of’ Videos, which we then used as part of a low-level paid Facebook ad campaign targeting mobile and indie game fans as a way of boosting organic outreach.
  • As part of our marketing efforts, we also worked closely with the developers to ensure the quality of the title was as high as possible before launch. This included reviewing in-game text and play-testing the game at key development milestones, providing detailed analytical feedback for the development team.

The Results

  • Secured 73 pieces of coverage from top publications including Pocket Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun thanks to our pre-launch outreach
  • The Facebook page received more than 3,000 likes in the run-up to the launch, and our daily Twitter posts helped to build an engaged base of hundreds of followers from scratch
