Journey across the stars and celebrate world music in the intergalactic puzzler Rytmos, lifting off today on iOS with an Android release to follow
Copenhagen, Denmark, May 16th 2023 – Rytmos, the interplanetary music puzzler from Danish developer Floppy Club, is set to make its debut on the mobile stage today after launching to critical acclaim earlier this year on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Serenading players with a fascinating blend of puzzle-solving and real-time music composition, Rytmos has already been highly praised by outlets including Eurogamer, who described it as a ‘brilliant music puzzler that sends you out into the world enriched and filled with curiosity,’ and The Guardian who labelled it ‘a sophisticated proposition.’
Each of Rytmos’ planets offers players the opportunity to experience music cultures from across the globe and asks them to complete a bespoke set of line puzzles that, upon completion, add a new layer to the planet’s evolving soundscape. From simple beginnings, Rytmos’ puzzle logic evolves and introduces fresh mechanics that offer players a challenge as their musical (and puzzle-solving) knowledge continues to grow as they progress through each themed planet.
Managing to complete a planet in Rytmos rewards players with interactable instruments that can be recorded and looped alongside the level’s fully developed soundtrack. Wield the Kalimba, rock out with the electric guitar, or go old-school and try the electric synthesiser. Produce tracks using the 15+ instruments and modifiers available in the game; only the player’s imagination can limit their musical masterpieces!
This journey across the stars will see players interact with an eclectic range of world music, ranging from 1960s Ethiopian Jazz, Indonesia’s soothing Gamelan, or even the 8-bit boops and beeps that formed the first gaming soundtracks! Developed as both a game and an interactive way to be inspired by the history of music, Rytmos delivers a meditative experience full of lightbulb moments and head-bobbing soundtracks.
