STYNGR Launches Soundboard, Equippable Music Snippets, levelling up brand engagement in Video Games

Soundboard debuts on Roblox with new music from Coldplay alongside millions of pre-cleared tracks that players can equip and play to express themselves

Santa Monica, CA, (October 30th, 2024) – STYNGR, the only fully licensed major label partner for music in games, announces the launch of Soundboard, a scalable music product allowing players to personalize their in-game experiences with millions of pre-cleared music snippets from Warner Music Group artists, including music from Coldplay’s latest album, Moon Music.

At launch, Soundboard is available exclusively in three popular Roblox games developed by Weave by Basket Entertainment: Family LifeBike of Hell and Teamwork Puzzles Obby. Soundboard snippets can be equipped by players to express their identities through music, tying their Roblox avatar to special moments from their favourite songs.

In addition to enhancing the possibilities for licensed music in video games, the launch of Soundboard adds another monetization layer for video game developers. As a micro-transaction product for players, developers who integrate Soundboard into their games will receive a revenue share from every purchase.

The launch of Soundboard follows the successful launch of STYNGR’s Boombox product, a microtransaction-based in-game music player that allows developers to launch and monetize playlists in their experiences. As part of Soundboard’s release, STYNGR released Coldplay-branded Boomboxes in Roblox featuring artwork and music from the band’s latest album, Moon Music. Within the first 36 hours of the release, the Boombox reached over 3M unique users, garnering 4.5M total music streams across artists and genres.

With the launch of Soundboard, developers can now also leverage Boombox to give users sponsored playlists, branded music objects, and more. As Soundboard scales to more games, developers will be able to leverage both models to drive engagement and bring major-label music to their users.

Alex Tarrand, COO and co-founder of STYNGR, says:

“Licensing music into video games is often a complicated process, but it doesn’t have to be. Soundboard is part of our joint mission with our label partners to unlock the world of recorded music to the collective benefit of players, game developers, artists and rights holders. Music has always played a significant role in self-expression and identity formation, this launch allows developers to bring music to their users in ways that feel natural and – most importantly – fun.”

As music integrations and products such as STYNGR’s Boombox and Soundboard evolve, they will play an important role in player immersion and expression. Self-expression is a vital part of many people’s experiences in immersive 3D spaces such as Roblox, particularly for younger players. 56% of GEN Z respondents in Roblox’s 2023 Digital Expression, Fashion & Beauty Trends Report say styling their avatar is more important to them than their physical style.

STYNGR’s technology and products are platform and engine-agnostic, meaning video game developers can integrate STYNGR’s API to bring millions of pre-cleared songs into their PC, mobile, and console games, regardless of which engine they’ve been developed in. Soundboard will be launching into games and platforms in Q4, 2024.
