People are getting their information about the B2B games industry in new ways. As traditional news sites fade, specialised newsletters and detailed reports are filling the gap with fresh updates.
These newsletters and reports are now key sources for industry insights. They offer expert analysis of topics such as news, investments, Steam marketing, AI, government policy, design, music, and more.
Here’s an alphabetical list of the top games industry newsletters and reports you might want to subscribe to in 2026.
Accord Player Ops Newsletter
Accord is a new platform that helps community managers and others interested in player sentiment analyse Discord channel activity. It converts thousands of chat lines into easily digestible, organised topics, making it simple to understand how players feel about a game at any given time. Accord’s Newsletter exemplifies this by focusing on major titles like Arc Raiders, promising to “shine a light on how players are responding to the latest game releases, announcements, and updates.” We’d buy that for a dollar.

- Upcoming games to watch based on pre-launch metrics and buzz
- Alinea’s hot – and sometimes spicy – takes on the latest industry news
Between Music and Gaming
(Nice logo to be added when we have one!)
We love a niche newsletter, and from the title, it’s clear that Kenny Vaughan shares his weekly thoughts on where music and gaming overlap. In it, he focuses on fresh ideas about how things could be done differently. Kenny’s passion for games and music is similar to Mat Ombler’s great MusicEXP newsletter (see below). He even says he “predicted a fair few trends ahead of the curve, including music in Fortnite back in 2017 as well as specific label partnerships ahead of their release.” Oooh, Kenny, look at you!
Crossplay
If you want to learn more about how parenting and video games connect, Crossplay by Patrick Klepek is a great resource. Patrick brings together his professional knowledge and his experience as a father of two. The newsletter offers a mix of news, personal stories, and analysis on topics like using platforms such as Roblox, choosing age-appropriate content, and game design for kids. It’s often complemented by Patrick’s “Spawnpoint” podcast with Keza McDonald, Video Games Editor at The Guardian.

Even though it stands apart from the others on this list, we believe Colin’s excellent work deserves a special mention.

MCV/Develop
Unless we’re very much mistaken, MCV Develop is the longest-running B2B trade publication, having been in operation since 1998, when a large chunk of its readership was likely still in school or had not even been considered. MCV/Develop is a UK-based trade publication from Biz Media, focusing on the business aspects of the video game industry. Formerly MCV and incorporating Develop magazine, it provides monthly news, analysis, data, and events, including the MCV/Develop Awards, for industry professionals such as developers, publishers, retailers, and service providers.
MeetToMatch
Is there anyone reading this who hasn’t used MeetToMatch? More to the point, is there anyone reading this who hasn’t wished that it were the industry standard for meeting platforms when faced with GDC insisting that we all use its terrible, proprietary system? Granted, MeetToMatch doesn’t offer the insight and analysis of other newsletters here, but we included it on this list because it’s such an invaluable source of new business and opportunities for many of us at pretty much all the major global gaming events. Plus, the newsletter gets you early-bird deals to keep it nice and affordable.
Mindgame Data
This newsletter explores data-driven trends through impactful, easy-to-decipher visuals (a bit like our fave coffee table book, Information is Beautiful by David McCandless). We especially like the slightly crazy Market Mind visualisation of the most popular and fastest growing games, so publishers and developers can see how much MindSHARE (their words- not ours) their game is capturing.
Mobilegamer.biz
Created by ex-Future Publishing Editor Neil Long, the Mobilegamer.biz newsletter offers news, interviews, and analysis tailored specifically for the mobile games business. It’s a key resource for developers, publishers, and investors operating within the mobile gaming ecosystem. Rather than focusing on news and announcements, Mobilegamer tends to drill down more into features and interviews about the business of mobile games.
MusicEXP
Full confession, experienced journalist Mat Ombler has worked with us here at BGM for several years now, and we can confidently say that nobody knows more about music and video games than he does. MusicEXP explores the intersection of the music and video game industries. The newsletter covers trends, partnerships, licensing opportunities, virtual concerts, and artist integrations within gaming.

We’re big fans of consulting firm Naavik, which is a bit of a content machine. This weekly newsletter, written by Business Professor and Author Dr Joost van Dreunen, looks at technology and entertainment developments through the lens of the video games industry. VGIM offers unique insights into regulatory landscapes, public perception, and the industry’s societal influence and is all wrapped up in George’s distinct and highly readable style.

In recent months, Video Game Insights also launched competitive intelligence for Xbox and PlayStation. Although there isn’t a dedicated newsletter for VGI, it’s worth following the company on LinkedIn for the latest updates, as there are good reports, such as one on the importance of Wishlists.

FAQ
Specialised newsletters are replacing traditional news sites because they provide expert, niche analysis that generalist outlets often miss. As the B2B games industry becomes more complex, professionals now rely on dedicated reports for deep dives into specific pillars like Steam marketing, game AI, and investment data. Newsletters offer a “hype-free” alternative to the frantic news cycle, delivering curated insights directly to an executive’s inbox.
GameDiscoverCo and Alinea Analytics are currently the industry leaders for Steam and PC market intelligence. GameDiscoverCo (by Simon Carless) focuses on discoverability and player behaviour, while Alinea Analytics provides benchmarked estimates on top-selling copies and pre-launch buzz. These resources are essential for developers and publishers looking to optimise their visibility on digital storefronts in 2026.
The DDM Game Investment Review and Drake Star Global Gaming Reports are the primary sources for tracking industry financial activity. These reports provide quarterly transaction data, private placement analysis, and M&A (mergers and acquisitions) tracking. For those seeking a venture capital perspective, the Konvoy and InvestGame newsletters provide specific intelligence on funding trends and public market performance.
The Game Maker’s Toolkit (GMTK) Digest and AI & Games are the top choices for technical and design-focused professionals. While AI & Games analyses the research and application of artificial intelligence in dev pipelines, the GMTK Digest (by Mark Brown) offers “prosumer” level deconstructions of what makes games actually work. These are ideal for designers who want to stay ahead of the “cultural curve” in game mechanics.
Yes, major research firms like Newzoo and Niko Partners regularly release comprehensive free reports and “Weekly Digests.” While many firms offer premium tiers, their free whitepapers are foundational for understanding the scale of the global market, regional growth in MENA and Asia, and broader consumer shifts. Additionally, newsletters like GameDev Reports act as efficient aggregators, summarising data from multiple sources to save you time.
You should choose a newsletter based on your specific B2B niche:
Business, Tech, or Creative. * Executives/Investors: Look toward GamesBeat, Drake Star, or Hit Points for high-level strategy.
Developers/Designers: Stick to Game Developer, AI Gamechangers, and Knowledge.
Marketers: Prioritise Streamforge Deep Dives and Video Game Insights for audience and influencer tracking.
The BGM Daily Download is a concise, daily summary designed to solve “information overload” by curating only the most vital global industry news. Unlike deep-dive reports that may take 20 minutes to read, this newsletter is built for speed, providing a “Freshly Squeezed” update of the day’s events. It is ideal for busy professionals who need to stay informed without spending hours digging through multiple sources.
