ANALYTICS COMPANY GAMEREFINERY APPROACHED US TO BOOST THEIR INDUSTRY PROFILE AND DRIVE MORE CUSTOMERS

Overview

Unique in what it does, Helsinki-based GameRefinery offers its tools to mobile game developers and publishers to help them find actionable game insights by analysing games at the feature level. GameRefinery had already been operating for several years when they approached us and is trusted by many high profile clients including King, Zynga and Rovio. When they approached us, Gamerefinery was ready to kick its PR efforts into a higher gear after flying relatively low under the radar but still securing some great success. They also asked us to work on a content strategy to help drive inbound leads to their website.

What we did
B2B PR

WE DEVELOPED A DATA-LED STRATEGY TO DRIVE MEDIA COVERAGE AROUND GAMEREFINERY'S UNIQUE INSIGHT

Excellent data and unique insight that solves a client’s problems often lie at the heart of any impactful B2B campaign. As a data-led platform, we knew that GameRefinery was sitting on a goldmine of valuable insight that it could leverage in many different ways to help educate prospects on a wide range of game-feature related issues.

Working closely with the analyst team at GameRefinery, we developed an ongoing PR strategy based on this unique insight. This involved multiple approaches, including:

  • Data that sheds light on global trends such as Covid-19
  • Identifying emerging game design trends that the market is unaware of
  • Shining the spotlight on specific countries and their tastes such as China
  • The launch of new platform features with corresponding data to demonstrate how it adds value to prospects

We also suggested that GameRefinery creates an ongoing monthly data set that focuses on a specific topic. From this, they developed the monthly snapshot report that we share with the media and which has gained a lot of traction.

WE CREATED A MONTHLY PODCAST TO LOOK INTO THE LATEST TRENDS WITH A SERIES OF SPECIAL GUESTS

When we suggested to GameRefinery that we create a monthly podcast, they were more than happy to give it a try. Not having made a podcast before, we set about creating a brand new monthly show which we called ‘The Mobile Gamedev Playbook’. Designed to be informative and analytical, the format of the Podcast is based around a group discussion of the latest trends in mobile game feature design as well as a chosen topic. Each month, host Jon Jordan is joined by GameRefinery VP Games Joel Julkunen plus a special guest/guests.

We handled the entire production of the Podcast, including:

  • Creating briefs for the host and the guests
  • Sourcing guests
  • The pre-podcast briefing calls with guests
  • Management of all participants on the day including technical oversight of the live discussion
  • Professional post-production of all audio using a sound engineer
  • Posting hosting and syndication across all major streaming services including writing the podcast summary
  • Podcast transcription
  • Logo design

GameRefinery has promoted the Podcast through its newsletters as well as its social channels. The Podcast has proven to be a huge success with each episode being downloaded several hundred times. It has also attracted new leads and helped establish GameRefinery’s thought -leadership position in the highly competitive mobile analytics space.  The Podcast has featured high profile guests including Rovio, Perfect World Games and Peoplefun. It has proven so successful that Gamerefinery has also received requests from companies that would like to take part in future episodes.
